Overcoming Our Jericho!

Too often our Dreams and Goals seem to have a wall around them that cannot be broken down. It is as though they are unattainable. Joshua 6 gives us many principles that help us to overcome those walls.

Our Dreams and Goals will not surrender to us. We have to work for them in order to achieve them. Just like Joshua, we have to learn how to deal with many personalities, follow instructions regardless of how simple or how difficult they may be. The instructions were given to Joshua and the people to test (1) Their Patience (2) Obedience and their (3) Faith.

The shout that the people were to give is never detailed in scripture. However, I believe that they were to shout an affirmation! It came before the final push of victory. It has been proven that those who say daily positive affirmations not only perform better, but also achieve those Dreams and Goals they have set for themselves.

Once those walls fall that are guarding our Dreams and Goals, we are able to enjoy the promised rewards of victory! Our celebration of those victories are usually public for others to see. When we do celebrate those victories, others are encouraged to chase their Dreams and Goals as well!

Smooth Sailing!

Life is guaranteed to throw some tough times at us! But, how do we handle it? There are three sailing tips to help us smooth out those rough seas as we sail through this sea of life.

1. Life Skills and Adaptability...Change what needs changing while maintaining balance and presence of mind. Learn new skills to help us communicate and navigate the tough times.

2. Awareness and Foresight...Pay attention to what is going on around us! Too often we see trouble coming and do nothing to avoid it. Prepare our ship, seek a safe harbor, ANCHOR DOWN!

3. Have an Adventurers Spirit...Test our skills, venture further from shore as we get better at navigating tough times!

Smooth Sailing doesn't come just from no tests or trials, but from how well we make the adjustments necessary to navigate those tests and trials.

Blessings,

STEPPING OUT!

Living your life to the fullest begins when you step outside your comfort zone. It can be quite tempting to stay in your comfortable place where things are predictable and safe. But your growth comes when you dare to shed the comfortable surroundings and venture out. You can do this by setting new and more demanding goals, making new friends, or by reading new books that stretch your visions. When you venture out you will meet new and exciting people who are exploring just like you. You will soon discover that the reasons you were afraid to venture out were not as bad as you thought they were. In fact you will wish you had done it sooner. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead; venture out, get uncomfortable with being comfortable and grow a little. The rewards of new growth will do you good!

ADJUST YOUR SAILS!

I have heard a lot of complaining lately. The majority of it is just the lack of motivation to continue when things get tough. Life is not "Smooth Sailing" all the time but there is a way to keep sailing.

William Arthur Ward said, “The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.” Leaders, like everyone else, are exposed to changing circumstances and obstacles. There are no exemptions. But what sets the leader apart from others is her or her ability to adapt in a way that it causes no significant disruption because he can adjust the sails. When the adversities of life blow your way, adjust the sails. In doing so you are not acknowledging defeat you are just positioning yourself for a greater opportunity because of it. Adjust your attitude; adjust your sails!

UPDATE: MY TRUCK IS CLEAN!

I saw a sign yesterday that said, "Early bird special. Car wash $10 from 8:00am - 10:00am." Guess what! I took my truck to the early bird special!!! Now my truck is clean! Beautiful, shiny, Crimson! (ROLL TIDE!)

Those who were there to clean the vehicles were friendly and very cooperative. Just like our lives...there is always someone there to offer the help we need. I realized after seeing the sign, that I could get some help. There were several people working together on my truck to clean it. And it only took a few minutes!

If we would just allow others who have the skills and desire to help us, we could get ourselves cleaned up in just a short while. So, don't waste any more time! Find those who are willing to help, and let them.

By the way, not only did they do a great job, I made some new friends as well!

"Early bird special - I'm willing to help"!
