Too often our Dreams and Goals seem to have a wall around them that cannot be broken down. It is as though they are unattainable. Joshua 6 gives us many principles that help us to overcome those walls.
Our Dreams and Goals will not surrender to us. We have to work for them in order to achieve them. Just like Joshua, we have to learn how to deal with many personalities, follow instructions regardless of how simple or how difficult they may be. The instructions were given to Joshua and the people to test (1) Their Patience (2) Obedience and their (3) Faith.
The shout that the people were to give is never detailed in scripture. However, I believe that they were to shout an affirmation! It came before the final push of victory. It has been proven that those who say daily positive affirmations not only perform better, but also achieve those Dreams and Goals they have set for themselves.
Once those walls fall that are guarding our Dreams and Goals, we are able to enjoy the promised rewards of victory! Our celebration of those victories are usually public for others to see. When we do celebrate those victories, others are encouraged to chase their Dreams and Goals as well!
Blessings,
Dr. Tim

Smooth Sailing!
Life is guaranteed to throw some tough times at us! But, how do we handle it? There are three sailing tips to help us smooth out those rough seas as we sail through this sea of life.
1. Life Skills and Adaptability...Change what needs changing while maintaining balance and presence of mind. Learn new skills to help us communicate and navigate the tough times.
2. Awareness and Foresight...Pay attention to what is going on around us! Too often we see trouble coming and do nothing to avoid it. Prepare our ship, seek a safe harbor, ANCHOR DOWN!
3. Have an Adventurers Spirit...Test our skills, venture further from shore as we get better at navigating tough times!
Smooth Sailing doesn't come just from no tests or trials, but from how well we make the adjustments necessary to navigate those tests and trials.
Blessings,
Dr. Tim

Does it Matter?
John 21:20-22 (NKJV)
20 Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?”
21 Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, “But Lord, what about this man?”
22 Jesus said to him, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.”
Peter asked Jesus how the apostle John would die. Jesus replied that Peter shouldn’t concern himself with that by comparing himself with John. Many times we have a tendency to compare our lives to others, sometimes to rationalize our own level of devotion to Christ or even to question God’s justice. But whatever the case, Jesus responds to us as he did to Peter: “What is that to you? You follow Me.”
Don’t worry about what everybody else is doing. Instead, focus on what God has called you to do. The phrase, “You follow Me,” includes doing what God has called you to do instead of judging, criticizing, or comparing what everybody else is doing. Doing what God has called you to do is a success principle in the Kingdom of God.
Because we are "...fearfully and wonderfully made..." Psalm 139:141, there is a uniqueness to each of us. The only concern we should have is what God wants from us! Are we fulfilling our potential from God? Is the track we are on ours?
If we focus on us, we can improve our lives. Doing this would free us from a lot of stress! Go ahead, focus on you for a change!

STEPPING OUT!
Living your life to the fullest begins when you step outside your
comfort zone. It can be quite tempting to stay in your comfortable place
where things are predictable and safe. But your growth comes when you
dare to shed the comfortable surroundings and venture out. You can do
this by setting new and more demanding goals, making new friends, or by
reading new books that stretch your visions. When you venture out you
will meet new and exciting people who are exploring just like you. You
will soon discover that the reasons you were afraid to venture out were
not as bad as you thought they were. In fact you will wish you had done
it sooner. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead; venture out, get
uncomfortable with being comfortable and grow a little. The rewards of
new growth will do you good!

ADJUST YOUR SAILS!
I have heard a lot of complaining lately. The majority of it is just the lack of motivation to continue when things get tough. Life is not "Smooth Sailing" all the time but there is a way to keep sailing.
William Arthur Ward said, “The pessimist complains about the
wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails.”
Leaders, like everyone else, are exposed to changing circumstances and
obstacles. There are no exemptions. But what sets the leader apart from others
is her or her ability to adapt in a way that it causes no significant
disruption because he can adjust the sails. When the adversities of life blow
your way, adjust the sails. In doing so you are not acknowledging defeat you are
just positioning yourself for a greater opportunity because of it. Adjust your
attitude; adjust your sails!

I'm A First Round Pick!
Today is Draft Day! For football fans, this is a day that is longed for year after year. Some are rooting for their favorite players to be picked early. The top question to be asked by the choosing team is, "How will player X help our team to succeed?"
Here are also some questions that we must ask ourselves."What makes me valuable to a team that is wanting to select me?" "What am I doing to make myself desired?" "What am I doing to improve my chances of selection?"
In the NFL draft, players are examined, prodded, poked, measured and analyzed in every possible way. They take a timed logic and reasoning test that is used to gauge calm and critical thinking in high pressure situations.
A test that is used and has become one of prominence is the PACE - (Performance After A Critical Error) test. It looks to see what a player does immediately after making a mistake.
It may not be as easy to quantify as how fast the player can run a certain distance or how much weight that player can lift, but it may be more critical in determining who can make the team better. PACE is a silent determiner in examining how the shadow of a past mistake affects future performance.
Players who demonstrate a high quality PACE find themselves as favorites in the front offices just like those who know how to handle difficult moments are highly valued in other businesses.
Imagine you have just made a mistake in a key situation that could be detrimental to your teammates. How will you respond immediately after when you are called upon to deliver the goods? Do you lose focus and compound the problem with additional errors or do you move on and focus on the next play?
If you want to increase your value and potential for success, increase your PACE. It is the ultimate show of that characteristic that everyone wants: mental toughness. Will you play scared, or will you play through? Don't let that mistake cost you another play! Understand that any error you make, the most important thing is your performance on the next play.
“Well, we all make mistakes, dear, so just put it behind you. We should regret our mistakes and learn from them, but never carry them forward into the future with us.” ― L.M. Montgomery
